More facts about Italy

Today in school we learned that Italy is the country in western europe with highest rate of people not knowing how to use conputers. Italy is also on the top three after spain and England not knowing a second language. I'm not overly surprised over these facts but what do surprise me is the school that keeps coming up with all these negative facts about the country where all the students have choosen to live. Imagne if the italians would go to sweden and immediately would learn that sweden got most stress problems in the world, highest suicide rates, more darkness than sunlight etc etc. Doesn't make sence!

Tonight I was supposed to go clubbing at Old fashion again but then someone suggested to watch a movie instead so I ended up staying in watching "Ti amo in tutte le lingue del mondo" (just having a short break right now). I looove romantic Italian movies, gimme more!!

Talkative Italians

In Sweden I always complained people are so reserved and sometimes a bit cold. If you suddenly start talking to a stranger on the tube they would most probably think you're wierd.

When living in Bologna I just loved the fact that friendly people would start talking to you absolutely everywhere.... Old men on the piazzas, young girls in the stores, old women on the bus etc

After deciding I would move to /Italy, but before I choose which city some people told me that the people in Milano are less open minded than in the rest of Italy. In Milano they would never start talking to you just like that on the street.... Yea right... It happens to me every single day. Obviously sometimes it annoys me but most of the time I love it.

Tonight I went for aperitivo with Ida, a Swedish girl who lives here in Milano that I've been in contact with online for a while. We went out for a drink to talk and to get to know eachother... As soon as we came to the bar someone started talking to us. We sat down at a table and managed to talk for maybe 10 minutes and then two guys comes up and decided to join our table. When they left we managed to talk another 5 minutes before three a bit older men sitting at the table next to us starts talking to us too. Incredible! It was a nice and interesting evening. Didn't get to know Ida very well but we're both here in Milano to stay so we got plenty of time for that later on :)

Time to sleep. Buona notte.

Very nice gang!

Now we're on our way home as Erik is leaving early tmw morning :(

Gelateria Marghera

In the guidebook I got from Valeria as a leaving present it said Gelateria Marghera had Milano's best icecream and here we are, far away in the middle of nowhere watching crazy italians fighting for their icecream. The streets around in the area are empty but here it's packed. People are parking their cars and vespas everywhere bkocking the street and there's a massive queue even outside the bar.

Miss love trying new things (me) obviously had to try it and... it was amazing. The icecream season is starting off soon and here in Milano there's no Lelio (my flatmate in Bologna) controlling me not to eat more than two icecreams a day like he had to do five years ago when I lived in Bologna ;) I can't help it, I just looooooove Italian icecream!!!

Pasquetta

Easter Monday, still a festive day here in Italy. Today the sun is shining and its 18degrees warm, niiice!!

Erik woke me up at 10am this morning and after a quick breakfast we immediately went out. We've been walking from my house to the opposite side of town and we've seen lots of nice parks and piazzas on the way. Now we're having picknick lunch in front of castello Sforzesco and later we'll walk into the big park "parco sempione" looking for some icecream. Lovely day!!!

Rainy day in Milano

Three pics from our rainy day around Milano...Me outside the museum, Erik in front of il duomo and a Erik and a big easter egg outside La Scala opera house.

Now it's movie time. We gonna watch the Italian movie "Il Divo" that very kindly Ekko downloaded to me before I left London. Should be good but its all in advanced italian and without subtitels so its gonna be a good lesson for both of us :)

California Bakery

Before leaving London I asked around all my italians friends for advices and tips for Milano; restaurants, bars, coffee places etc. Three of them recommended "California Bakery" as Milano's best brumch place. Also last week when I was out for dinner with Brami's friends here in Milano they also kept saying how good it so I immediately put it on my list of things I have to do/see/try here.

Today after the museum Erik and I walked around town for a while and then we started our search for a lunch place... Misson impossible... Easter Sunday in Milano and obviously everything's closed. We walked around for more than an hour on empty and dead streets and everything was mega closed. Then, suddenly in the middle of nowhere we saw an open place, the famous California bakery, like sent from heaven, haha. We ordered bagels and cappuccion's and it was amazingly good!!

Pinacoteca di Brera

Today we've been cultural and we've been to Pinacoteca di Brera, one of the biggest art museums in Milano. I've never been ovely interested in art but sometimes its nice to go to museums, look around and read about the different art pieces. As Italy is very cultural its a must to visit the main museums and now Ive seen one. Check!

Easter breakfast

Italy might have the best food in the world but they absolutely don't have the best breakfast, there Sweden and also England is far above. Here a normal breakfast consists of a croissant or some cookies plus a coffee, that's it.

Now Erik is here and its Easter so we though of having an extra nice breakfast alla sweden. Freash bread, butter, cheese, prosciutto, tomatoes, egg, yoghurt and coffee. The swedish breakfast tradition with Italian ingeriants, can't get better. Yammi!!

Still gray weather here in Milano but today we're going out to explore the city anyway.

Rainy day

My plan today was to walk around Milano and see some turist things but as its raining like mad I changed my mind and instead I'm just staying in.

Yesterday night was nice. Me and Giose, both new in Milano, decided we wanted to see corso como, which is a famous bar and club street/area. We went there, walked around for a while and choose a very cosy mexican bar. We had some mexican cocktails and snacks and just hanged out. As Giose had to work today we went home quite early and for once I was in bed already at 1.30am...

This morning I woke up quite early and started of the day cleaning my flat. Now Im having lunch, a lovely Piadina, and then I guess I just gonna watch a movie or some Gossip Girls episodes. Lazy day!

Later this afternoon Erik is coming from Sweden and he will be staying here for two days. Thanks god. All Milanesi people left the town for easter so Im happy to get some company :) Fingers crossed for some better weather though!!!

Good Friday

Today, even if it was good friday we had school. The teachers explained it saying it's beacuse it's a privat school (all public schools were off). Lots of people complained and didn't show up but I was honestly happy we had lessions today too. I pay for the course so I want to get the out of it. It was a quite easy day at school though, we talked a lot and ate "colomba" - the tipical Italian easter cake.

After school I went for a long walk with Kendra, an american friend. We walked from school to Duomo - the big cathedral in town were we attended part of the good friday mass. Beautiful! The pic is from the Duomo.

After the mass we went to my place for dinner and now Kendra just left and I am supposed to clean the flat, but instead Im blogging ;) In half an hour Giose is picking me up and we'll go for some drinks somewhere.

Happy Easter everyone!

Stress

When I left London I didn't manage to move all my things I had in London with me so in the end I left some things in Paolo's place (my old flat) and some other things in Kristofer's place. I also didn't find time to try to sell my TV. Now I'm constantly stressed as I know I need to find a solution to everything. For my things I can choose 1. Go to London for a weekend in april or may and get them. 2 try to convince someone in london to come and visit and bring them. 3 ask Kris and Paolo to ship the things down in a box with DHL. I really don't know what to do...

Then the bloody TV... Does anyone know someone that could be interested to buy a 26" flatscreen TV?? Or can suggest how I could sell it, from here...???

Now Im sitting in the evening sun close to "porta Genova" waiting for a friend to go for an aperitivo. The school closed so I couldn't stay and go surfing so instead I have to sit here 20 min waiting like a freak. Maybe I should start doing my homework for tomorrow. An essay of 100-150 words of what I think about Italian people and especially Italian guys. Haha. The right girl to ask ;) I got lots to say anyway, looking forward to start writing!

Buona serata

Codice Fiscale

Can someone please explain what a codice fiscale is and what I need it for?

Someone in school told me that I need it but that it's hard to get. I like challanges so obvisouly I wanted to get one. Today I went to the "agenzia delle entrate", talked to a young guy and 2 minutes later I had the paper with a this codice fiscale code in my hand. Very hard to get.... And now? What should I do with it? Haha.

Now Im sitting in the sun in a beautiful park that I found close to the imigration office. Should go to school but its so nice here... The sun is shining, the birds are singing and behind me two dogs are playing in a little river. Lovely!

Tonight Im going for aperitivo with some girls from school and later I will go out dancing with Gabrielle. Can't wait.

Amici

Exactly five years ago, when I lived in Bologna, I was addicted to a TV show called Amici. I watched the show every week even if the guys I lived with just hated it and conplained every time (but they always saw it anyway;). It's a competition show like X Factor/Idol where they have to both sing, act and dance.

It was a great surprise when I return to Italy and saw that the show is still on. Unfortunately it's not as nice as in the old times where all contestants had to do everything, dancing, singing and acting. Now they just concentrate on one of the things/what they are good at which makes it a bit boring and also hard to judge. How can you say who's the best if one is dancing and the other one is dancing? Anyway, today is the final and obviously I had to stay home to watch it :) Forza Pierdavide!

Home sweet home

Today has been a lovely day here in Milano, 20-22 degrees and sunshine. I went down to the "Navigli" (a canal) to see the famous market they have last Sunday every month. It was pretty but too much people. I walked around an hour or so then I sat down in a little park and had this year's first ice cream, yammi. Now I'm at home watching some TV, so tired. Could go to sleep right now. Think I gonna have an early dinner at 7 and then watch a movie.

Have a nice Sunday evening folks.

Hard life

In the last three months I've lived a life similar to the life I had around graduation when I was 18 years old. I've been out almost every night, meeting new people and making new friend almost every day. It's obviously lots of fun but also very tiring.

My last two months in London were amazing, I guess among the best time I had in London. Since I took the decision to leave London I immediately stated to enjoy and appriciate everything I had much more. And, London is AMAZING. Then my friends, since they heard I was moving suddenly were there for me aaaaall the time making the best of the time we had left together. Then, I also met some new nice friends plus someone special and all these this together made my last weeks absolutely unforgettable. Parties, dinners and happenings every night... As I thought I would move to Milano, without knowing anyone, I would be sitting home by myself my first weeks and then I could make up for the lost sleep from London. I was wrong. Now I've been in Milano 8 days and I've been out dancing 6 of them. Now I'm exhausted, really!

Yesterday I had a good time anyway. I went out with some of Luigi's old friends who's from her. First I went for dinner in a nice little restaurant with three girls and two guys. After the dinner they convinced me to join to a club that I don't even remember the name of. It's a bit wierd to go out with a group of people you absolutely don't know but they were all very nice and brought me into the gang. I had a good time.

Now I've promised myself to spend at least two evenings home by myself, eating healthy and just relaxing! :)

Spring in Milano

Today its saturday and I've been in Milano one whole week. In one way it feels like I came yesterday as time passed too fast but at the same time it feels like I've been here months. I already feel like home and I've started to understand how things works.

Yesterday night I went out with Emelie and Julia. We ended up in a club called Plastic, a very cool but also quire wierd place. Like 90% of the guys were wearing super skinny jeans and converse (as you all might know I HATE converse on guys)... Then lots of them had that ultra nerdy style with big glasses which is popular in sweden. Gosh. Not my type really. Anyway, I had quite fun.

Today I woke up at 1.30pm. I made a piadina for brunch and had a quick shower before I went out. I justed wanted to go out walking and that's what I did. I walked for 1,5 hour hoping to reach the centre, but I didn't. I must have walked the wrong direction because suddenly as was outside Bocconi uni, totally wrong side of town. Thanks god for my best friend mobile phone that could help me to find the right way back thanks to the gps. Now I'm in town, sitting on a little piazza somewhere close to the duomo reading a magazine.

Tonight its Inter - Roma. First I toght of going there by myself (half price for girls on all inter games) but then Gabrielle convinced me it was too dangerous going there by myself supporting the opposite team. Can't believe Im here in Milano and will miss the game :(((

Another night out

Tonight I was suppsed to go out, only for one drink with Gabrielle at L'ombra del vino (which now it my favourite place here in milano). Gabrielle is a Barmbi's friend who orginized this blind date. We ended up charing both wine and champagne at l'ombra while listening to some live italian music, lovely! After that we went for another drink at old fashion (again)....
A veeery nice evening!! And I only spoke italian the whole evening:)

I'm in heaven...

Im in the taxi on my way home. I feel so happy. Been out at a place called "old fashion", a very nice nightclub that tonight hosted an international night. Some people from our school came togeher with some erasmus from Bocconi and also lots of posh wannabe's italian guys who's looking for, what they say "internatonal giiirlfriiieends" (can't even imitate their own italian/english language). Interesting mix of peolpe....

I was out with Emelie and Julia; we danced a lot and had lots of fun. Part of the club was inside and the other half outside in the garden. So wonderul to be dancing in just a little dress outside in March. I love Italy, that's for sure!!

Buona notte a tutti, ma penso che voi dormite gia'... :)
